Hydroquench System: One Stop Shop for Premium Moisture

Hey Everyone ! It's about that time for another review on yet another amazing black owned business brand. Today's feature is for Hyrdroquench Systems! I've been going hard for this brand since about Tuesday via. instagram, but I have been in love with these products since the minute they landed on my doorstep a few weeks ago.

Before I get into detail about the products, I want to first address a few things. First, I want to say thank you to everyone that got in on the Buy one get one free 7pc sample set sale, and cleansing conditioner sale, as well as the 20% off sale for all other products. Just in case you missed out on the CRAZE, the good thing is, the sale is still going on. The code for the Buy one Get one free sample sets and cleaning conditioners is SUBSCRIBEBOGO. Just a few things before you go and purchase. First, only add one sample set or cleansing conditioner to your cart, the other will be sent to you for free once you input the code. If you'd like to try both cleansing conditioners, only add one to your cart. In the note for the seller, add that you want the other cleansing conditioner or two of the same one. Next, if you can not find the set on the website, simply type in SAMPLE into the search bar, and it will come up. Finally, when using the code, you will see 5$ deducted from your cost, this is reducing the cost of shipping. The 7pc sample set will cost $25 flat. With the buy one get one free deal, you will get a total of 14 pieces at 4oz each. 2 of each product. The code is valid until sunday, September 2nd.

Next, I want to get into why this brand is near and dear to me. Bianca, founder of Hydroquench systems is one of the most resilient women I know. After losing thousands of dollars in an incident involving foreclosure (more details on her blog), the company had to close its shop for an indeterminate amount of time. Recently, Bianca reopened her shop, but it hasn't been very easy being that her recent fiasco had left a sour taste in customers mouths from delayed orders. I'm proud to have partnered with Bianca to give a necessary boost to her company. She was generous enough to offer that amazing deal, and hopefully you all love the brand as much as I do to become loyal customers (as I will).

Now let's get into the good part.. The products!

This package was by the far the best package that I have received since I started my blog back in June. The variety of products, their ingredients, the sizes, and the scent (oh goodness the scents) are all to DIE for.

I was sent a 16oz bottle of the Greaseless Moisture, a 12oz bottle of the White Tea & Lemon 5 day moisture, a 12 oz bottle of the 'The Slip' Deep Condition, an 8oz bottle of the Double duty Texture Enhancing (ooh la la) leave in conditioner, a 4oz bottle of the coco lime oil, an 8oz bottle of the Cocoa Kisses twisting cream (which is really a butter). a 16oz bottle of the Cocoa kisses cleansing cowash and another 16oz bottle of the Banana Strawberry Frizz Free cleansing conditioner. Whoah - THAT WAS A LOT.

That is ultimately why this blog took so long to be posted, it was a lot to get through and I usually need some time to sit on a product before being able to post a detailed review on each product. Lets get started shall we? Just a warning, I will only include the products that I have actually used already. A few of them I haven't yet but I will post another blog sometime in the future featuring those I haven't used.

The Cleansing Cowashes

Okay first of all y'all, let me just tell you all how hard it was to decide between which one I should use first. The both small amazing. The Banana Strawberry Frizz Free cleansing conditioners smells exactly like a banana strawberry milkshake, while the cocoa kisses cleansing conditioner smells like real deal chocolate. It is intoxicating, seriously!

Before I get into the details of the product, I want to first discuss how to properly cowash your hair. Cleansing conditioners are not meant to cleanse the scalp. I repeat, they are not meant to cleanse the scalp. The purpose of a cowash is to refresh your hair between washes and remove some of the build up from your hair shaft. When co-washing, you are only applying the product liberally to the shaft of your hair and away from the scalp.

If you're one of those people who don't love to shampoo, I recommend that you do an Apple cider vinegar rinse once a week to cleanse your scalp. Once a month you will need to use a sulfate shampoo to cleanse your hair if you use products that contain silicone to full cleanse your hair. If that really makes your skin crawl, once a month do a detoxifying mask to cleanse your hair using a mix of 100% pure bentonite clay and water (or) Apple cider vinegar. Now - moving forward.

I won't discuss each conditioner separately because they are actually really similar to each other. Both product have amazing slip and cleanse my hair pretty effectively for the purpose of being a cowash. The ingredients to each products are awesome and super potent (not watered down with water and filler ingredients - the same is true for all other products from this line. Bianca does not use a pre-made base for her products like many of the brands in big box store; everything is made from scratch). I do want to add that what makes these products unique is that they actually gave my curls some extra moisture and made them 'pop' as you all like to say after using the products. I almost felt like I can just add in a leave in, and a gel, and have a picture perfect wash & go - Too bad I don't like wash & gos lol.

My only issue with these products is the pump. It's kind of hard to get product out with this pump. I just screwed it off and squeezed it out of the bottle.

The Slip Deep Conditioner

Y'all, I don't have much to say about this deep conditioner besides it has outranked one of my very very favorite deep conditioners (the Honey Miracle Hair Mask). Now I don't mean to disparage any company or take away from the quality of that product, but I have always deemed the honey Miracle Hair mask to have the most slip that I have experienced in a deep conditioner. Hence, why I never felt comfortable having less than 4 bottles of that honey miracle hair mask on my shelf. I know - that's a little crazy. But after trying out the The Slip Deep conditioner, I felt ashamed that I didn't have at least 10 bottles of it (I am so serious).

This deep conditioner is SO moisturizing, so slippery, so amazing that it has probably earned its way to either #1 or #2 of my favorite deep conditioners (and I have tried over 40 deep conditioners since being natural). When using it, I actually didn't need to pick up a huge glop of product to apply to each section of my hair. I simply dipped the tip of my fingers in the product (not scooped) and I did this about 3 or three times for each of the 5 huge sections of my hair. My hair was fully saturated. The product penetrates the hair shaft IMMEDIATELY (I mean no white!), and melts those single strand knots on contact. It is absolutely amazing.

What makes it even more crazier is that Bianca told me that this batch that she sent to me didn't even contain her desired amount of a certain ingredient because of back order - the product should have actually been even MORE slippery than what it is. I had no idea you can even get more slippery than that. Lucky for you, if you purchased the buy one get one free sample set deal, then you have 8 oz of the The Slip Deep conditioner to try for yourself. The deal is STILL ON.

The Coco Lime Oil

After using the deep conditioner, I applied a light coat of the coco-lime oil to seal in the moisture while my hair was still soaking wet from rinsing. This oil smells amazing. It is super light weight which is perfect for curlies like me who do not prefer heavier oils, but also perfect for the kinkiest of curls who don't want that overwhelming greasy feeling but still want to lock in moisture. This oil can be used in the L. C. O. method or L. O. C method. It can also be used as a pre-poo, and can even be mixed in with your deep conditioner to add even more of a boost.

One thing I found really unique is that this is the first brand I have ever seen (besides when you buy those big jars of coconut oil) use a jar for it's oil. This can easily go left if you are clumsy because this oil does not solidify all the way (at least mine hasn't and my room isn't very hot). If it makes it easier, get a small applicator bottle and pour it in there.

This product does contain coconut oil and a few other amazing ingredients. It is an amazing oil that I do see myself purchasing again (and that rarely happens since I am not really an oil person).Luckily for those who purchases the buy one get one free sample set, you will be receiving two bottles just like the one in this photo.

White Tea & Lemon 5 Dat Moisture Styling and Twisting Butter

Now we are wounding down to the end of my co-wash day. Ya'll know that when styling my hair, I try to stick with just a little water to refresh my curls, and some hair butter. You also know that my style is always just a simply chunky twist out.

Before getting into the details of the product, I want to explain to you all how I get those stretched twist outs just one day after wash day. The secret to that is in the method I use to dry my hair after washing. I do not blow dry my hair. I t-shirt dry my hair. I flip my hair forward, and put the t-shirt over my head, I think make sure that the length of my hair is in the front of my hair where I will twist around the t-shirt to create a sort of a turban style. When using this method to dry, your hair dries in a slightly stretched state because of the way it is placed in the t-shirt. I let it dry for about 2 hours in the t-shirt, and then I air dry the rest of the time. When my hair has 100% air dried, I style.

As usual, when I was ready to style I sprayed about 3 spritz of water just to refresh and then added about a dime size of the white tea and lemon 5 day moisture to each section of my hair. This butter is very thick, so I recommend you go in with a very light hand. Melt the product between your hands before applying to your hair as it does harden in the bottle with cool and room temperature. Don't quote me on this, but if the product is too hard, maybe you can melt it down just a little and re-whip it. I'm sure it'll be just fine.

As you all saw on instagram, my twists were defined, shiny, and soft. I actually had such a grand reaction from this twist out that I had never received before. A few have said that this was my best twist out yet. I wasn't expecting that! Lucky for you all who have purchased the sample set, you will have two 4oz bottles of this product but I am pretty confident you all will go ahead and get a full size.

If you are so in love with the products that I mentioned so far that you absolutely need to get a full sized NOW - use code QUEEN20 for 20% off any regular priced item. Again, I haven't reviewed everything because I just couldn't get to it all in such a short amount of time, but I promise you that this isn't the last time you will be hearing about Hyrdoquench from The People's Daughter!

Hope you enjoyed!
