Hey everyone! I am back with yet another exciting review on a black-owned hair care brand. Now, as you all may already know I only review small, growing black owned businesses. Some of these businesses are still wetting their feet and you can kind of tell by their labeling, websites, or even their social media presence. Once in a while I find myself having to convince fellow curlies to look past those humps and focus on the quality of the product itself, rather than the presentation. However, for the brand I am presenting to you today, if I didn't know it, I seriously would've thought these products were being exclusively sold in Sephora. That is the level of luxury and quality in both the product, and presentation that Genedor Beauty offers us as a SMALL business. It is absolutely unbelievable!
Before I even delve into the products, I really just wanted to give a round of applause to Ketia Bradley, founder of Genedor Beauty for her attention to detail, her standard of excellence, and for really going above in investing in her company. Ms. Bradley didn't take baby steps in starting her company, she took STRIDES, that takes a whole lot of faith and a whole lot of courage!

What they have to offer!
Now let's move on to the hair care products. Genedor Beauty has just three products for hair in its shop. A cleanser, a conditioning treatment and a styler, namely the Super Fruit Antioxidant Shampoo, the moisture resuscitate deep conditioning treatment, and the Swirl Curls Gel styler. They also order a healthy hair multivitamin gummy which I haven't gotten a chance to try. This is an amazing start to the company being that it is super simple and has everything you need to complete a full wash day. I am hoping that in the near future, Genedor Beauty offers a leave in conditioner, oil, or hair butter (for butter crazed naturalistas like myself) and actually finds it's way to Sephora shelves! but anyways, I digress.
For the purpose of integrity, I will only be reviewing the shampoo and treatment for this blog because I haven't yet used the Swirl Curls Gel Styler. I've mentioned this several times before but I am not a fan of super defined styles like wash & go's or pretty much slick back anything unless it's a puff. I decided that it would be best for me to include the Swirl Curls Gel styler in my recent Genedor Beauty giveaway to gift to a curly who would actually use this gem to its maximum potential.
Super Fruit Antioxidant Shampoo
Now I gotta be honest with ya'll, whenever I see a product saying "For all hair types", I'm a little weary about whether it'll work for my tight type 4 curls. I'm also going to be honest in saying that I didn't see enough type 4 representation in those who've reviewed the brand thus far, which made me even more weary. You (the reader) know, and I know, how that boat tends to float. Many hair care brands who claim to be for all hair types tend to lean more towards European hair types and loose curlies. However, it's safe to say that my presumptions were wrong as they apply to Genedor Beauty. This brand absolutely does work for type 4 hair and I would love to see these products in the hand of a type 4C curly to really put this "all hair types" slogan to the test.
This Super Fruit antioxidant shampoo is absolutely amazing. It's actually very creamy with a super duper sudsy lather. When I applied it to my first quadrant, I underestimated the power of the cleanse and put way too much in my hand. I was able to spread that lather to almost my entire head but since I wanted a really deep cleanse, I still added just a smidge more directly to each section.
The shampoo did not dry my hair, in fact it was pretty moisturizing. I was able to partially finger detangle with the shampoo still in my hair. Once rinsed, my hair was super shiny, super clean, and even super defined. The super clean part is important to me because I style my hair with butters most of the time, which can leave a considerable amount of residue. Cowashing is not sufficient enough to cleanse heavy butters and creams completely off of your hair shaft.
Moisture Resuscitate Deep Conditioning Treatment
Now listen here, and listen closely..this..is...bae!! I know, I know ladies! I am a deep conditioner fanatic! In fact, I need intervention for my deep conditioner addiction but yo (yeah I had to say that so you can know just how serious I am about this) this right here? It's the truth!
The Moisture Resuscitate deep conditioner provides a platinum level of moisture and slip that only the best quality of deep conditioners can provide. A Quarter size per section was really all I needed (with a little more attention to my ends as that is the oldest part of your hair) was enough to melt any frizz, knots, tangles, or whatever other unruly behavior curly hair tends to permit. The treatment has a soft subtle vanilla scent, its not super duper thick but thick enough to have a smooth even distribution for even the kinkiest of hair types.
My only critique to this product is that I do not love for my deep conditioner to come in a tube since I love to use my deep conditioners to the very last drop. The tube makes it hard to squeeze everything out and at some point will require me to cut this beautiful bottle just to get the last drop out. I would 100% prefer a jar; and because I know that Ms. Bradley strives for excellence and luxury quality, I'd even go as far as to say I'd like it to be in a glass jar (which is a lot more eco friendly & luxury than plastic). If she takes heed on that, she would be the first that I know of to offer such a presentation. But hey, Ketia is a trailblazer to say the least.
